Ingredients
  

Filling ingredients
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For sautéing
  • 1 cup Havarti cheese, shredded Can substitute with cheddar or Gouda
  • ½ cup cranberries, dried or fresh
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package pre-made pie crusts Convenient shortcut
  • 1 egg beaten For egg wash

Method
 

Cooking the Filling
  1. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground turkey, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let it cool for a couple of minutes.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Stir in the shredded Havarti cheese and cranberries until combined.
Preparing the Crust
  1. Roll out your pre-made pie crusts on a floured surface. Cut them into circles or squares.
Assembling the Pies
  1. Place a spoonful of the turkey mixture in the center of each crust piece. Fold the crust over to create a pocket and seal by pressing the edges with a fork.
Baking
  1. Place the hand pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  2. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Make ahead by freezing after baking. Can substitute turkey with ground chicken or a plant-based alternative. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C).
