Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey for a leaner option) Ground turkey can be used as a healthier substitute.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend) You can choose your preferred cheese.
  • 1 cup salsa Store-bought or homemade is fine.
  • 1 can crescent roll dough This simplifies the preparation.
Toppings
  • Sour cream or Greek yogurt for topping Choose your preferred topping.
  • Optional: diced tomatoes, sliced olives, shredded lettuce, or jalapeños for garnish Feel free to get creative with the garnishes.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef (or turkey). Drain any excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning and half a cup of water. Let it simmer until the sauce thickens—about 5 minutes.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
  4. Grease a muffin pan and place one triangle of dough in each muffin cup, pressing the sides up to form a little cup.
  5. Spoon the taco meat into each dough cup, then top with a sprinkle of cheese. Optionally, add a dollop of salsa.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  7. Once out of the oven, let them cool for a couple of minutes, then top with sour cream and your choice of garnishes.

Notes

Feel free to switch up the fillings! Add black beans, corn, or finely chopped veggies. If the kids want to help, let them create their own personalized taco cupcakes for a fun family activity. Embrace any mess as added character.
