Ingredients

For the Surf
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika for extra flavor kick
For the Turf
  • 2 pieces ribeye or filet mignon steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Creamy Garlic Sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
  • A pinch of salt and a dash of pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika.
Cooking the Steaks
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steaks with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add a tablespoon of butter to the pan, and when it’s bubbling, lay the steaks in.
  3. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until they reach a perfect sear. Remove and let rest under foil.
Preparing the Sauce
  1. In the same pan, lower the heat to medium and add more butter and minced garlic.
  2. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Slowly add heavy cream, stirring gently. Let bubble for a minute before whisking in Parmesan, salt, and pepper.
Cooking the Shrimp
  1. Toss the marinated shrimp into the sauce and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and cooked through.
Serving
  1. Slice the rested steak and serve topped with shrimp and creamy garlic sauce. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

Resting the steak is essential for a tender experience. Substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or whole milk, but the sauce won't be as rich. Adding a squeeze of lemon juice can enhance the flavor.
