Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with 1/4 cup of sugar and let them sit for about 30 minutes.
- Blend the macerated strawberries in a blender or food processor until smooth, reserving some for texture if desired.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, whole milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until dissolved.
- Combine the pureed strawberries with the cream mixture and stir until well combined. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour.
Churning
- Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- If using a shallow dish, freeze the mixture and stir every 30 minutes for about 3-4 hours until creamy.
Serving
- Once the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency, scoop it into bowls or cones, topping with fresh strawberries if desired.
Notes
Adjust sweetness according to the strawberries’ ripeness. Adding lemon zest can provide a zesty twist!
