  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For stuffing inside meatballs.
For the Spaghetti
  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce Store-bought or homemade.
  • to taste Fresh basil for garnish Optional.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.
  3. Take a handful of the meat mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a tablespoon of shredded mozzarella in the middle, and then carefully fold the meat around the cheese. Roll into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
Cooking
  1. Bake the meatballs for about 20 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  2. While the meatballs are baking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large pot, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat. Once the meatballs are ready, add them to the sauce to soak up the flavors. Let them simmer together for a few minutes.
Serving
  1. On a plate, layer the spaghetti, generously top with the marinara sauce and cheesy meatballs. Optionally, add fresh basil on top.

Notes

Prep ahead by making the meatballs and freezing them. They can be added directly to marinara sauce when ready to eat. Add Halloween-themed pasta or create ghostly faces on the meatballs for extra fun!
