Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 12 ounces spaghetti or any pasta you prefer
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Garnishes
  • 1 cup black olives, sliced These are your spooky "eyeballs".
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese For that delicious finishing touch.
  • Fresh basil, for garnish Optional.

Method
 

Cooking the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Sautéing the Garlic
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
Making the Sauce
  1. Add the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, and oregano to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Toss the cooked pasta in with the tomato sauce. Stir well so that every strand of spaghetti is covered in that saucy goodness.
Serving
  1. Just before serving, toss in the black olives. Plate your Spooky Pasta and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh basil for garnish if you’re feeling fancy.

Notes

You can prep this dish in advance. Just cook the pasta and make the sauce ahead of time, and combine them when ready to eat. You can also customize by adding veggies or swapping black olives for mini meatballs if desired.
