- Wash and slice the apples, leaving the skin on.
- In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; stir well.
- Add the apple slices to the mixture and toss until evenly coated.
Cooking
- Place the coated apples in the slow cooker and dot with butter.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until tender.
- Serve warm, ladled into bowls on their own or with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Mix different types of apples for a unique flavor. For crunch, add chopped nuts. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week.
