- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil and sauté the chopped onion and bell pepper for about 5 minutes until tender.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until it’s browned and fully cooked through, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Drain any excess grease, then stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Spoon the sloppy mixture onto hamburger buns. Optionally, add a slice of cheese or pickles on top.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. You can also incorporate extra veggies like zucchini or carrots into the mixture. The recipe is flexible and forgiving, allowing for creativity.
