Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 green onion, sliced
For the Wontons
  • 12 pieces wonton wrappers
  • Oil for frying Use enough to submerge the cones.
Optional Dipping Sauce
  • dipping sauce of your choice (e.g., sweet chili sauce) A perfect accompaniment!

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the shrimp, soy sauce, sesame oil, and minced ginger. Let that marinate for about 10-15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, toss together the diced red bell pepper, grated carrot, and sliced green onion.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil, and stir-fry the marinated shrimp for about 3-4 minutes until they’re pink and cooked through.
  2. Using a small spoon, spoon a mix of shrimp and veggies onto the center of each wonton wrapper and fold the wrapper into a cone shape.
  3. In a deep pot, heat enough oil to submerge the cones, then gently drop in your prepared wonton cones, frying until they’re golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Arrange your crispy cones on a platter and serve with dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

If you don’t have a deep fryer, a pot on the stove works fine—just be safe with hot oil. You can fill your cones with fried rice or salad for a heartier option. Even if they look imperfect, they taste amazing!
