Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp and crab meat. Add the mayonnaise, shredded cheddar cheese, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Give it a good stir until everything is blended beautifully.
- Take your slices of bread and spread a thin layer of the softened butter on one side of each slice.
Cooking
- In a skillet over medium heat, place the buttered bread slices, butter side down. Spoon your creamy shrimp and crab mixture generously on top of the bread slices.
- Cover the skillet with a lid and let the melts cook for about 5-7 minutes, checking to ensure they don’t burn. They should be golden brown on the bottom and melty on top.
Serving
- Once they’re perfectly toasted and bubbling, remove from the skillet and slice in half. Serve hot.
Notes
Serve with a fresh green salad or a warm bowl of tomato soup. For a spicy kick, add hot sauce to the mixture. For a veggie version, replace seafood with chopped spinach and artichokes.
