Preparation
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour these into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in the diced Honeycrisp apples.
Cooking
- In a large skillet or heavy-bottomed pot, heat your oil to about 350°F.
- Using a spoon or scoop, drop the batter into the hot oil. Fry the fritters in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Once cooked, remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt while still warm.
- Serve them warm, either on their own or with a side of maple syrup for dipping.
Notes
Fry in batches to maintain oil temperature and achieve crispy fritters. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to regain crispiness.
