Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 piece bell pepper, chopped (green or red) Your choice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For thickening
  • 4 slices provolone cheese Or your favorite melted cheese
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: sliced jalapeños For a spicy kick!

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Stir in the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté until the vegetables become tender (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, beef broth, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch with a couple of tablespoons of cold water until smooth. Stir it into the beef mixture and cook until thickened (about 3-4 minutes).
  5. Lower the heat and layer the provolone cheese on top. Cover the skillet for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts.
  6. Spoon the beef mixture onto the hamburger buns, adding sliced jalapeños if desired.
  7. Grab your napkins and dig in!

Notes

Dairy Free? Use a dairy-free cheese alternative. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to three months. If the sauce is too runny, let it simmer to reach desired consistency.
