Preparation
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté until the vegetables become tender (about 5 minutes).
- Add Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, beef broth, and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch with a couple of tablespoons of cold water until smooth. Stir it into the beef mixture and cook until thickened (about 3-4 minutes).
- Lower the heat and layer the provolone cheese on top. Cover the skillet for a couple of minutes until the cheese melts.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the hamburger buns, adding sliced jalapeños if desired.
- Grab your napkins and dig in!
Notes
Dairy Free? Use a dairy-free cheese alternative. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to three months. If the sauce is too runny, let it simmer to reach desired consistency.
