Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms optional but highly recommended
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns toasted if desired

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
  2. Toss in the chopped onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms; sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. Push the veggies to one side and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 7 minutes, mixing in the vegetables.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper; simmer for about 5 minutes.
  6. Lay provolone slices over the mixture and cover to cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
  7. Serve heaping spoonfuls onto the hamburger buns.

Notes

For an extra kick, consider adding jalapeños or hot sauce. Leftover filling works beautifully on baked potatoes or nachos!
