Ingredients

Dough and Fillings
  • 1 package pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Feel free to mix in provolone or fontina for extra flavor
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni Substitute with cooked sausage, vegetables, or ham if preferred
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce Plus extra for dipping
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For brushing
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a large rectangle.
  3. Spread the marinara sauce evenly across the dough, leaving about an inch around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, and layer the pepperoni on top.
  5. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder over the toppings.
  6. Carefully roll the dough starting from one of the longer sides, and pinch the edges to seal.
  7. Place the rolled stromboli seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Brush with olive oil and beat the egg in a small bowl for an egg wash.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until beautifully golden brown.
  10. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing, and serve hot with marinara sauce on the side.

Notes

Leftover stromboli can be wrapped tightly and stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven to restore crispiness.
