  • 1 package phyllo dough (thawed)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted) For brushing the phyllo layers
For the Filling
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey Plus additional honey for drizzling (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a pinch salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the phyllo dough into squares that fit into your muffin tin cups. You’ll want about 6 squares per cup.
Assembling the Cups
  1. Brush each layer of phyllo dough with melted butter before stacking them in the muffin tin.
  2. In a bowl, combine the chopped pecans, brown sugar, honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Spoon the pecan mixture into your prepared phyllo cups, filling them well.
Baking
  1. Pop your muffin tin in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the cups are golden brown and fragrant.
  2. Once out of the oven, allow your baklava cups to cool slightly.
  3. Drizzle with additional honey if desired.
Serving
  1. Carefully remove the baklava cups from the tin and serve.

Notes

Keep unused phyllo sheets covered with a damp towel to prevent drying out. You can also mix in walnuts or almonds for a variation. Prepare ahead of time and bake just before serving.
