Preparation
- Start by seasoning your ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Once seasoned, shape it into two patties.
Cooking the Onions
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt one tablespoon of butter. Toss in the sliced onion and let it cook until caramelized, stirring occasionally (about 10-15 minutes).
Cooking the Patties
- Move the onions to the side of the pan and add the beef patties into the skillet. Cook them to your desired doneness (about 4-5 minutes per side for medium). Add cheese slices on top of the patties towards the end so it melts beautifully.
Assembling the Sandwich
- Place a slice of bread on a plate, top it with a patty, followed by caramelized onions, and another slice of cheese. Top it off with a second slice of bread.
Grilling
- Wipe out the pan, add the remaining tablespoon of butter, and grill your sandwich over medium heat until crispy and golden brown on both sides (about 3-4 minutes per side). Press down gently with a spatula for extra melty goodness.
Serving
- Slice the sandwiches in half and serve with your favorite sides—think crispy fries or a fresh side salad.
Notes
A dollop of secret sauce (ketchup and mayo mixed together) adds a fantastic kick! If your first patty isn’t perfect, laugh it off and enjoy! Consider adding jalapeños or spicy mustard for extra flavor.
