Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Can substitute with other cheeses.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk Whole or 2% works best.
  • 3 large eggs Room temperature recommended.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Flavorings
  • 1/4 cup fresh sage leaves, finely chopped Can use 1 tablespoon dried sage instead.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and Parmesan cheese. Stir to mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until fully combined.
  4. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped sage.
  6. In a popover pan or muffin tin, coat each cup with about a teaspoon of melted butter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cups, filling each halfway.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffy and golden brown. Do not open the oven door too soon.
Finish
  1. While the popovers bake, melt the remaining butter in a small pan and add the minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  2. Once the popovers are done, brush them generously with the garlic butter.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature eggs and milk. Experiment with different cheeses and herbs for unique flavors. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven.
