Ingredients
  

For the Cheesesteak
  • 1 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak Flank steak or chicken can be used as substitutes.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced Mushrooms or jalapeños can be added for variation.
  • 4 ounces provolone cheese or Cheez Whiz Cheez Whiz is an alternative for a classic flavor.
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Lightly toasting the rolls adds a nice touch.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for cooking
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Cooking the Steak
  1. Heat a little olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Season your thinly sliced ribeye with salt and pepper.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add in the steak and cook until browned, about a few minutes.
Adding Vegetables
  1. Push the steak to one side of the skillet and add sliced onions and green peppers to the other side.
  2. Sauté until soft and caramelized, about 5 minutes.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Combine the steak and veggies in the skillet and mix them together.
  2. Pile on the cheese of your choice and cover the pan for about a minute or until the cheese melts.
Assembling the Sandwich
  1. Split the hoagie rolls and lightly toast them.
  2. Load them with the meat and cheese mixture.
Serving
  1. Cut each sandwich in half and serve hot, optionally with sides like sweet potato fries or a salad.

Notes

For best results, slice steak thinly. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently.
