Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, softened butter, and cream cheese using a hand mixer. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Add the orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract to the buttery mixture. Stir until everything is incorporated.
- Gradually mix in the white chocolate chips. Chill this mixture in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Once chilled, scoop out small amounts of the mixture and roll them into balls.
- Melt the remaining white chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
- Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring they’re fully coated. Place them back on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate until the chocolate hardens.
- For an extra touch, sprinkle some additional orange zest or colorful sprinkles on top before the chocolate sets.
Notes
Zest wisely to avoid the bitter pith, and feel free to experiment with different flavors like lemon zest or add a splash of your favorite liqueur for a twist. Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
