Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed is the best!)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest (for that zingy flavor!)
For the Orange Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the orange juice and zest.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s) and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. While the cake cools, mix together the powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest until smooth.
  3. Once the cake is completely cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top, slice, and serve.

Notes

Zesty Flavor: Don’t skip the orange zest! It brings vibrant flavor. Allow your cake to fully cool before glazing. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
