Ingredients

Meatball Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For Wrapping and Serving
  • 1 (18-ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 package crescent roll dough
  • Black olives (for eyes)
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into bite-sized meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
Baking
  1. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 20 minutes until cooked through and golden.
  2. While the meatballs are baking, roll out the crescent roll dough and cut it into thin strips for wrapping.
  3. Let the meatballs cool slightly and wrap each with crescent roll strips, leaving gaps for the eyes.
  4. Return wrapped meatballs to the oven for an additional 10 minutes until the dough is golden and crispy.
Finishing Touch
  1. Add a dot of marinara sauce on each meatball and top with halves of black olives for the eyes.

Notes

If you’re short on time, buy pre-made meatballs and give them a mummy makeover. Use peppercorns or other small dark ingredients instead of olives for eyes.
