Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Roll the mixture into bite-sized meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
Baking
- Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 20 minutes until cooked through and golden.
- While the meatballs are baking, roll out the crescent roll dough and cut it into thin strips for wrapping.
- Let the meatballs cool slightly and wrap each with crescent roll strips, leaving gaps for the eyes.
- Return wrapped meatballs to the oven for an additional 10 minutes until the dough is golden and crispy.
Finishing Touch
- Add a dot of marinara sauce on each meatball and top with halves of black olives for the eyes.
Notes
If you’re short on time, buy pre-made meatballs and give them a mummy makeover. Use peppercorns or other small dark ingredients instead of olives for eyes.
