Preparation
- Preheat your oven according to the tater tot package instructions, usually around 425°F.
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey), salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Form small, bite-sized patties about the same size as your tater tots, yielding around 12-15 patties.
Cooking
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
- During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a pinch of shredded cheese and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
- While the patties are cooking, arrange the frozen tater tots on a baking sheet and bake according to package instructions, around 20-25 minutes until crispy.
Assembly
- Once the patties are cooked and the tater tots are crispy, place each patty on a plate, add a few tater tots on top, and finish with onions and your choice of toppings.
Notes
Customize your cheeseburgers by mixing in different seasonings or adding chopped jalapeños for an extra kick. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
