Preparation
  1. Wash, peel, and core the apples. Slice them into thin wedges.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the apple slices and cook for about 5 minutes, until they start to soften.
  3. Drizzle the maple syrup over the apples and sprinkle with cinnamon. If using lemon juice, add it now.
  4. Stir everything together and continue to cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice according to your preference.
Serving
  1. Serve warm as a stand-alone treat, on vanilla ice cream, or with pancakes.
