Ingredients

Noodles
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti in a pinch)
Vegetables
  • 1 cup bell pepper, sliced (any color you like!)
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 1 cup snow peas
  • 2 green onions, chopped
Aromatics & Oils
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
Sauces & Seasonings
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional, but highly recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method

Cooking the Noodles
  1. Start by bringing a pot of water to a boil. Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions until they're al dente. Drain and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set them aside.
Sautéing the Aromatics
  1. In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Adding the Veggies
  1. Toss in the sliced bell pepper, julienned carrots, and snow peas. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they’re just tender.
Combining Noodles and Veggies
  1. Add the cooked lo mein noodles to the pan and carefully mix them with the sautéed veggies.
Seasoning
  1. Drizzle the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil over the mixture. Stir well to ensure every noodle gets coated.
Finishing Up
  1. Toss in the chopped green onions and give everything one last stir before serving.
Serving the Dish
  1. Plate your beautiful Lo Mein. Enjoy your homemade Asian delight!

Notes

Feel free to switch out the veggies and add cooked chicken, shrimp, or tofu for extra protein.
