Ingredients
  

For the pie
  • 1 each unbaked pie crust store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup can substitute with dark corn syrup or maple syrup
  • 4 each large eggs
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts if preferred
  • a pinch salt adds flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place your unbaked pie crust into a pie dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, corn syrup, eggs, and melted butter. Whisk until well-blended. Stir in the vanilla and a pinch of salt.
  4. Toss in the chopped pecans to the mixture.
Baking
  1. Pour the filling into the pie crust and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the filling is set and a little jiggly in the center.
  2. Let the pie cool for a bit before slicing.
  3. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a chilled pie, refrigerate for an hour before serving. Feel free to experiment with ingredients, such as adding chocolate chips or cinnamon.
