Ingredients

For the Bolognese Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef (or your choice of protein) Feel free to substitute ground turkey or plant-based options.
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
For Serving
  • Pasta of your choice (spaghetti works best)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional) Adding Parmesan is a must for extra flavor!

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet or pot, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Toss in the minced garlic, and then add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
Cooking
  1. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, covered.
  2. While the sauce is bubbling, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook your spaghetti according to package directions.
  3. Once the pasta is al dente, drain it and toss it with the Bolognese sauce.
Serving
  1. Plate your irresistible spaghetti Bolognese and sprinkle grated Parmesan on top if desired.

Notes

Don't skimp on the simmering for deeper flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. Consider adding sautéed veggies or a side salad for a complete meal!
