Ingredients

For the Ribs

For the Marinade
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced Optional, but recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes For those who like some spice.
For Garnish
  • to taste fresh cilantro or green onions Optional, for presentation.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (about 149°C) to create a low and slow cooking environment.
  2. Rinse the ribs under cold water and pat them dry. Optionally, remove the membrane on the back for extra tenderness.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Place the ribs in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Massage the sauce into the meat, seal the bag or cover the dish, and let marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Baking
  1. Place the marinated ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Pour any leftover marinade over the top.
  2. Cover the ribs tightly with foil and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is falling off the bone.
Finishing Touches
  1. After baking, remove the foil and broil the ribs for 5 to 10 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  2. Garnish with chopped cilantro or green onions if desired before serving.

Notes

Don't skip marinating for the best flavor. For extra sauce, consider making a double batch of the marinade. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
