Ingredients

For the Nougat Layer
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Coating
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to help with that easy-drizzle texture

Method

Preparation
  1. Clean your kitchen counter and gather all your ingredients. Put on some fun music.
Making the Nougat
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and let it boil until it reaches 240°F (soft-ball stage).
  2. In a clean bowl, whip the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually pour the hot syrup into the whipped egg whites while the mixer is on low. Add the vanilla extract and increase the speed to medium-high, beating until thick and glossy, about 5-7 minutes.
Forming the Bars
  1. Spread the nougat mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, smoothing it out to about 1/2 inch thick. Chill in the fridge for about 1 hour or until firm enough to cut.
  2. Once chilled, cut the nougat into rectangular bars.
Coating in Chocolate
  1. Melt the chocolate chips with vegetable oil in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Dip each nougat bar into the melted chocolate, ensuring even coverage.
  2. Let excess chocolate drip off, then place the bars back on parchment paper.
Final Steps
  1. Allow the bars to set in the refrigerator for another 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  2. Once set, enjoy your homemade Three Musketeers Bars!

Notes
