Ingredients
  

For the coating
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs Beaten
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs Panko works best for extra crunch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
For the cheese sticks
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese sticks The star of the show
  • Vegetable oil For frying

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Set up an assembly line with three shallow bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for the breadcrumb mixture.
  2. Mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.
Coat the Cheese Sticks
  1. Roll each mozzarella cheese stick in the flour, shaking off any excess.
  2. Dip it into the egg mixture, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick.
  3. Repeat for all cheese sticks.
Chill the Sticks
  1. Place the coated cheese sticks in the freezer for about 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while frying.
Fry the Cheese Sticks
  1. Heat about an inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  2. Test the oil by dropping in a breadcrumb; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.
  3. Fry the cheese sticks in batches for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
Drain and Serve
  1. Remove the cheese sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  2. Serve hot with marinara sauce or ranch for dipping.

Notes

Freeze coated cheese sticks for best results to prevent them from oozing during frying. Maintain medium heat for optimal frying.
