Ingredients

Bread Ingredients
  • 4-5 cups all-purpose flour You can adjust based on dough consistency.
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Adds sweetness to the bread.
  • 1 tablespoon salt For flavor enhancement.
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast Can substitute with active dry yeast.
  • 1.75 cups warm water About 110°F for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Keeps the bread moist.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, salt, yeast, and warm water. Stir and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Gradually add 4 cups of flour and the oil. Mix until a dough starts to form, adding more flour if too sticky.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough gently and turn it out onto a floured surface. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  6. Cover the pan and let it rise for another 30-40 minutes until puffed up.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

For quicker kneading, a stand mixer can be used for 5-7 minutes on medium speed. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-5 days or freeze slices for longer storage.
