Ingredients
  

Cream Cheese Mixture
  • 1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Whipped Cream
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
Chocolate Layer
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted and cooled
Layering Ingredients
  • 2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs Oreo crumbs work wonders!
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish optional

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth. Then add in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until creamy and well-combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold about half of this whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
  3. Gradually fold in the melted and cooled chocolate chips into your creamy concoction until fully combined.
Layering the Trifle
  1. In a trifle dish (or any clear glass bowl), start by placing a layer of chocolate cookie crumbs at the bottom.
  2. Add a layer of your chocolate cheesecake mixture, followed by a layer of whipped cream. Repeat until ingredients are used up, finishing with whipped cream on top.
Garnishing and Chilling
  1. Sprinkle some chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder on top. Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and let it chill in the fridge for at least two hours.

Notes

Make-ahead magic: This trifle can be prepared a day in advance. You can also swap chocolate cookies for vanilla cookies or graham crackers. For a lighter option, consider using reduced-fat cream cheese or Greek yogurt.
