  • 1 pound ground beef Preferably lean
  • 1 pound Italian sausage Sweet or mild based on preference
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 packet onion soup mix Key ingredient for flavor
  • 12 pieces slider buns Don’t skimp on the buns!
Optional Toppings
  • pickles Add according to preference
  • lettuce Add according to preference

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage together until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  2. Drain excess fat, then stir in the onion soup mix, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Assembly
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the slider buns horizontally and place the bottoms on a baking sheet.
  2. Spoon the meat and cheese mixture generously onto the bottom buns. Add any desired toppings.
  3. Place the top buns on and sprinkle extra cheese if available. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
Serving
  1. Let them cool for a minute before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

Make Ahead: Prepare the meat mixture the day before and reheat. Get Creative: Substitute meats or add hot sauce. Don't Skip the Soup Mix: It's essential for flavor.
