Ingredients
  

Cookie Base
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • a generous splash green food coloring
  • to taste sprinkles red sprinkles for decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Add green food coloring until the desired hue is achieved.
  7. Cover the dough and chill it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Use a cookie scoop or form tablespoon-sized balls of dough.
  2. Roll each ball in powdered sugar and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Top each cookie with red sprinkles.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden.
  5. Let them sit on the baking sheet for a couple of minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For different color schemes, swap the green food coloring out. Add chocolate chips for extra flavor. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
