Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine your warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Whisk until blended.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stir to form a soft dough.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes.
- Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
Shaping and Rising
- Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape them into balls.
- Place them in a greased baking dish and cover to let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush the tops with melted butter after removing from the oven.
Notes
You can prepare the dough a day in advance and store it in the fridge overnight. For flavored rolls, add herbs, cheese, or garlic before shaping.
