Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Life's too short to skip the butter.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed For that caramel-like goodness.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix-Ins
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips The more, the merrier!
  • 1 cup caramel sauce Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 cup crushed graham crackers Adds crunch!
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Optional for extra crunch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over this layer.
  7. Sprinkle the crushed graham crackers and nuts (if desired) on top, followed by the remaining batter. Drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce over the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes until set but still a bit gooey in the middle.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper and slice them into squares.

Notes

Don't overbake for maximum gooeyness. Store in an airtight container for up to a week. You can also substitute the caramel sauce with homemade if you prefer.
