Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over this layer.
- Sprinkle the crushed graham crackers and nuts (if desired) on top, followed by the remaining batter. Drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce over the top.
Baking
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until set but still a bit gooey in the middle.
Cooling and Serving
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper and slice them into squares.
Notes
Don't overbake for maximum gooeyness. Store in an airtight container for up to a week. You can also substitute the caramel sauce with homemade if you prefer.
