For the Tarts
  • 1 package puff pastry thawed
  • 1 cup frozen chopped spinach thawed and drained
  • 1 cup canned or frozen artichoke hearts drained and diced
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheese mozzarella or preferred blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder for flavor
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until thin.
  3. Cut the pastry into squares (about 3 inches) or circles.
  4. In a mixing bowl, blend the cream cheese, spinach, artichokes, shredded cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  5. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each pastry square and fold over the corners or in half if using circles.
  6. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden glaze.
Baking
  1. Arrange the tarts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  3. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

You can add fresh herbs like parsley or chives to the filling for extra flavor. If the tarts don’t puff up perfectly, they still taste delicious. Prepare the filling a day in advance for convenience.
