Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich
  • 1 large loaf large round loaf of Italian bread or a Sicilian sesame loaf Choose bread for a crunchy texture.
  • 1 cup olive salad Store-bought or homemade.
  • 0.5 pound salami, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 pound mortadella, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 pound ham, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 pound provolone cheese, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sliced pickles Adds a zesty crunch.
  • to taste olive oil Optional but recommended.
  • to taste balsamic vinegar Optional but recommended.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the loaf of Italian bread in half horizontally.
  2. Scoop out some of the soft interior if you prefer a crustier bite.
Layering
  1. Spread half of the olive salad onto the bottom half of the bread.
  2. Layer the salami, mortadella, and ham on top of the olive salad.
  3. Add the provolone cheese on top of the meats.
  4. Place the sliced pickles on top of the cheese.
  5. Spread the remaining olive salad on the top half of the bread.
  6. Carefully place the top half on the sandwich.
Press and Serve
  1. Gently press the sandwich down to help the flavors meld.
  2. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place a heavy pan on top for about 30 minutes to blend the flavors.
  3. Slice it into wedges and serve.

Notes

You can switch up the ingredients based on personal preference or add some pepperoncini for heat. Make ahead and refrigerate for a tasty experience later.
