Method
Preparation of Mashed Potatoes
- Boil the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water over medium-high heat until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add in the butter, milk, salt, and pepper, then mash to your desired creaminess.
Cooking the Steak
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper.
- Add the steaks to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time for your preferred doneness.
Making the Garlic Butter
- Lower the heat and add the butter and minced garlic to the skillet during the last minute of cooking, basting the steak with the melted garlic butter.
Serving
- Let the steaks rest for a few minutes. Plate the creamy mashed potatoes and top with fresh parsley. Serve the steak alongside the potatoes.
Notes
For a richer flavor, add a splash of red wine to the skillet after removing the steak and scrape up the brown bits to create a sauce. A meat tenderizer can enhance the steak's flavor and texture.
