Ingredients

For the Garlic Butter Steak
  • 2 pieces ribeye steaks (or your favorite cut)
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Use real butter for best flavor.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste Fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.
For the Creamy Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk Add more if desired.
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Preparation of Mashed Potatoes
  1. Boil the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water over medium-high heat until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add in the butter, milk, salt, and pepper, then mash to your desired creaminess.
Cooking the Steak
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper.
  2. Add the steaks to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time for your preferred doneness.
Making the Garlic Butter
  1. Lower the heat and add the butter and minced garlic to the skillet during the last minute of cooking, basting the steak with the melted garlic butter.
Serving
  1. Let the steaks rest for a few minutes. Plate the creamy mashed potatoes and top with fresh parsley. Serve the steak alongside the potatoes.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a splash of red wine to the skillet after removing the steak and scrape up the brown bits to create a sauce. A meat tenderizer can enhance the steak's flavor and texture.
