Ingredients

For the Steak and Shrimp
  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into thick slices
  • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined Bonus points if they’re wild-caught!
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped For garnish
For the Garlic Butter
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic recommended
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice For acidity

Method

Preparation
  1. Season the steak on both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
Cooking the Steak
  1. Add the steak slices to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare or to desired doneness.
  2. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a plate.
Cooking the Shrimp
  1. In the same skillet, add another 2 tablespoons of butter and toss in the minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  2. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque.
Finishing the Dish
  1. Squeeze lemon juice over the shrimp and mix together.
  2. Plate the steak and top it with shrimp. Drizzle remaining garlic butter over everything and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

Let the steak rest after cooking to ensure juices redistribute. Use fresh garlic for best flavor and be careful not to overcook the shrimp.
