Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped Use any variety or color of cabbage.
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined Fresh or frozen shrimp can be used.
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced A spicy variety can add heat.
  • ½ medium onion, diced Can substitute with shallots for milder flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adjust to taste.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter Olive oil for a healthier option; butter for richness.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Use according to personal preference.
  • Optional: A sprinkle of red pepper flakes For extra heat if desired.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil (or butter) and let it warm up. When the oil shimmers, add the sliced sausage. Cook for about 5 minutes until it's nicely browned.
  2. Toss in the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until aromatic and the onion turns translucent, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Stir and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, until slightly wilted.
  4. Gently fold in the shrimp and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until the shrimp turn pink.
  5. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Chop your veggies the night before for faster preparation. The dish is flexible; feel free to add other veggies like bell peppers or broccoli.
