  • 1 can (15 oz) cherry pie filling Use your favorite brand for best flavor.
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows These add sweetness and fluffiness.
  • 1 cup whipped topping Can use Cool Whip or equivalent.
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans Or walnuts, as preferred.
  • 1 cup shredded coconut Optional for a tropical flair.
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries For garnish.

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cherry pie filling and miniature marshmallows. Stir gently; we want to keep it light and fluffy.
  2. Add in the whipped topping and fold it in gently.
  3. If using, stir in the chopped pecans and shredded coconut for added texture and flavor.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least two hours to let the flavors mingle.
  5. When ready to serve, scoop portions into bowls or onto a platter. Top with a maraschino cherry.

Notes

Use pre-made whipped topping to save time. You can substitute cherry pie filling with other fruits such as peach or blueberry.
