For the Beef
  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain Flank steak can be substituted with chicken or tofu.
  • 2 tablespoons black pepper Adjust based on personal spice preference.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use tamari for gluten-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For thickening; can be skipped if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Any oil can be used.
For the Vegetables
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced Red or green, your choice!
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1.5 cups broccoli florets
For Serving
  • Cooked rice or noodles To serve the stir-fry over.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with black pepper, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Let it rest for about 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated beef to the hot pan, spreading it out in a single layer. Sear for about 2-3 minutes until it's browned.
  3. Toss in the sliced bell pepper, onion, minced garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add the broccoli florets and a splash of water. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the veggies are vibrant.
  5. Serve the stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles.

Notes

Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots or zucchini. Allowing the beef to marinate is key.
