Ingredients
  

For the shrimp
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined Use fresh or thawed frozen shrimp.
  • 1 cup cornstarch For coating the shrimp.
For the glaze
  • 1/2 cup honey Natural sweetness for the sauce.
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce Adds umami and saltiness.
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar For acidity in the glaze.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper Adds a little warmth.
For frying
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For frying the shrimp.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Pat your shrimp dry with a paper towel to help the cornstarch stick better and keep them extra crispy.
  2. In a bowl, toss your shrimp with the cornstarch until they are well-coated.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Carefully add the coated shrimp in batches to the skillet and fry for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Place the cooked shrimp on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create the sweet, sticky sauce.
  5. In the skillet (still warm but not too hot), toss the crispy shrimp with the honey glaze until well-coated.
Serving
  1. Plate the honey-glazed shrimp and enjoy immediately.

Notes

For a spicy twist, add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the glaze. Top with fresh herbs for added flavor. This dish pairs wonderfully with rice, noodles, or salad.
