Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups cooked rice day-old works best
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce or tamari for a gluten-free option
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Optional Garnishes
  • sliced green onions for garnish
  • sesame seeds for garnish
  • favorite protein (like shrimp or chicken) optional addition

Method

Preparation
  1. Start with leftovers, if you have them! Day-old rice dries out a bit, providing that perfect crispy texture. If you need to cook fresh rice, let it cool first.
  2. In a bowl, combine the rice, olive oil, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Give it a good stir until everything is well-coated.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Once ready, spread the rice mixtures into an even layer in the air fryer basket.
  2. Cook the rice for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Keep an eye on it for golden-brown, crispy perfection.
Serving
  1. Once crispy, remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with green onions or sesame seeds. Serve alongside your favorite protein or enjoy as a snack.

Notes

Use day-old rice for the best texture. You can switch up the seasonings or add vegetables for a nutritious boost. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
