Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces chicken breasts (boneless and skinless)
  • 4 slices crispy prosciutto
  • 1 cup apple cider the good stuff!
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded can be swapped for mozzarella or cheddar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • for garnish fresh parsley for a fancy touch

Method

Preparation
  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Optionally, sprinkle on garlic powder for extra flavor.
Crisping Prosciutto
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the prosciutto slices until crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Remove and place on a paper towel.
Cooking Chicken
  1. In the same skillet, add the seasoned chicken breasts to the prosciutto drippings and sear them for about 7-8 minutes on each side, until golden-brown.
Making the Creamy Sauce
  1. Remove the chicken from the skillet. Pour in the apple cider, scraping the bottom for flavor. Let it reduce for about 3 minutes.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream, thyme, and shredded Gruyère. Simmer until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
Combining and Serving
  1. Return the chicken to the skillet, and spoon the creamy sauce over it, letting it soak in for a couple more minutes.
  2. Crumble the crispy prosciutto on top and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

For less creaminess, Greek yogurt can be a lighter option, but will change the texture and flavor. For extra crunch, add prosciutto at serving.
