Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mixing
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix in milk, vanilla, and almond extract until combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
Adding Sprinkles and Baking
- Gently fold in the colorful sprinkles.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Decorating
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks.
- Once completely cool, frost with a simple buttercream or cream cheese frosting, and add more sprinkles on top.
Notes
Add Extra Flavor: Replace half of the milk with buttermilk for added richness. Bake the cakes a day in advance and store them in the fridge for freshness.
