  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk any kind you prefer
  • 3.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract because flavor matters
  • 0.5 tsp almond extract optional, but oh so good
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup colorful sprinkles the star of the show!

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mixing
  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix in milk, vanilla, and almond extract until combined.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
Adding Sprinkles and Baking
  1. Gently fold in the colorful sprinkles.
  2. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Decorating
  1. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks.
  2. Once completely cool, frost with a simple buttercream or cream cheese frosting, and add more sprinkles on top.

Notes

Add Extra Flavor: Replace half of the milk with buttermilk for added richness. Bake the cakes a day in advance and store them in the fridge for freshness.
