Dry Ingredients
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it's at room temperature.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk At room temperature.
Add-Ins
  • 1 cup colorful sprinkles Feel free to use themed sprinkles!

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour. Fold in the colorful sprinkles.
Baking the Cake
  1. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and smooth the top.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Frosting
  1. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  2. Once cool, frost with your favorite buttercream or cream cheese frosting and sprinkle more colorful sprinkles on top.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for the best texture. Avoid overmixing to keep the cake light and fluffy. Leftover cake can be wrapped tightly and stored or frozen.
