Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and flour until fully combined.
- Slowly pour in the buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until well incorporated.
- Add the eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition until the mixture is creamy.
- Add a pinch of salt and any optional spices if using.
- Pour the pie filling into the unbaked pie crust.
Baking
- Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-50 minutes until the center is set and the top is golden.
- Let the pie cool completely before slicing.
Serving
- Slice the pie and serve plain or with a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
For a homemade pie crust, don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it! If out of buttermilk, a mix of milk and lemon juice or vinegar can be used as a substitute. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days.
