Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is just soft enough to combine easily.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar Plus additional sugar for rolling.
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract Can be substituted with more vanilla if desired.
For Rolling
  • 3/4 cup white sugar For rolling the cookie balls.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually blend the dry mixture into the wet mixture.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then roll them in the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar.
  7. Place the balls onto cookie sheets lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes for enhanced flavor and to prevent excessive spreading during baking. Feel free to experiment with mix-ins like chocolate chips or nuts.
