Ingredients

For the lasagna
  • 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing included)
  • 3 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional) Definitely encouraged for added crunch.
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and add the melted butter and vanilla extract.
  3. Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and set the icing aside for later. Unroll each cinnamon roll slightly and place a dollop of your apple mixture on top before rolling it back up.
Assembly and Baking
  1. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer the rolled cinnamon rolls side by side. Sprinkle chopped pecans between layers if desired.
  2. Pour any remaining apple mixture over the top.
  3. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
Finishing Touches
  1. Drizzle the reserved icing over the warm lasagna and serve.

Notes

For added convenience, assemble the dish a day ahead of time and store it in the fridge. Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor. Enhance the icing with a splash of maple syrup for a twist.
